Opportunity Zones

Opportunity Zones are a provision in the Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2017. The legislation provides for significant capital gains tax advantages for investors who reinvest their profits from a liquidity event (sale of stock, real estate, fine art, basically anything you sold for more than you bought) into real estate or business in specific census tracts, which were selected by the governors of each state, and Puerto Rico and Washington D.C. There are approximately 8,700 qualifying census tracts in the country, covering around 12% of the US land mass, and home to 32 Million people.
